Partnership Opportunities

The Army National Guard seeks to make a full range of postsecondary educational opportunities and programs available to its members. These are just some examples of how schools can partner with the Guard:

Academic Partnerships

Partnerships consists of degree and non-degree courses of various types in National Guard armories/community centers, offered to Guard members and students from the nearby community. The range of courses extend from professional and personal development to specialized military training in subjects such as equal opportunity/diversity management, hazardous materials handling, and military occupational specialty (MOS) related courses.

Distributive Training Technology Project (DTTP)

The National Guard distance learning network, the Distributive Training Technology Project (DTTP), is connecting all 54 states and territories as a primary mechanism for the affordable delivery of readiness and professional development training. When fully implemented, DTTP lends itself to the sharing of education, training, and information resources with government, business, higher education and the community. The goal is to establish a site within 60 miles or 60 minutes of every Guard member in each of the 54states and territories, and for the sites to serve as community-based learning and information centers. This network offers a venue for schools to deliver their distance learning courses across the nation.

Community Learning and Information Network (CLIN)

The Community Learning and Information Network (CLIN) is a public-private partnership that provides further access to education through state of the art learning sites accessible to all community members.

Incentive Programs for Guard Members

Some schools are voluntarily offering incentives to as a way to tap into the military market. Current incentives include discounts on tuition, room and board, and scholarships for Guard members. As a return on their investment, schools draw Guard members and members of the community into their programs.

ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps)

The Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) allows Guard members to participate in the Army ROTC at colleges and universities where available. The Guard has a limited number of Dedicated National Guard Scholarships and Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty Scholarships available. Colleges may partner with the Guard to increase enrollment in the ROTC program.

Initiating a Partnership with the Guard

Schools can do this by contacting the Guard Education Services Office in your state or territory or by contacting SOCGuard at 1-800-368-5622.
