Afloat Education

Coast Guard Afloat Education gives U.S. Coast Guard personnel the opportunity to undertake academic study and continue their personal and professional growth while assigned to sea duty. SOCCOAST institutions participate in Coast Guard Afloat Education by offering self-paced learning and independent study options. Some have developed courses using PDA, iPod, and USB delivery methods to better serve the needs of members. The Coast Guard also has a non-exclusive working partnership with Vincennes University, an Indiana public university accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Universities. Through this program, embarked instructors offer courses to members underway. For more information on afloat education options, members should contact their Education Service Officers.
