SOCAD System Training

SOCAD is a system of colleges working together to make it possible for soldiers to begin a degree with one of them and complete it with courses taken at others as they relocate during their Army careers. Army Education counselors and academic advisers play an integral part in the SOCAD network system in terms of orienting military students to their educational options and explaining the SOCAD degree network concept (transferring back to a home college rather than starting over every time military students transfer).

Sections 1 and 2 of The SOC DNS Handbooks provide a detailed understanding of the SOCAD Degree Network System with examples of how the degree network program works. New counselors and college representatives should thoroughly review those two handbook sections before counseling military students on how the SOCAD degree program benefits mobile servicemembers.

A SOCAD Training slides show (PowerPoint Presentation) has been developed to illustrate key concepts and recent changes to the SOCAD degree program. The slideshow may help counselors assimilate SOCAD program knowledge as well as serve as a counseling tool installation-based voluntary education training. Additional modules will be developed throughout the year, so check this Web site quarterly.
