How Does Our College Join SOCAD?
SOCAD colleges provide degree programs on or accessible to
Army installations when the Army determines that a need for particular
areas of study exists at a location. The process for determining
what curricula are offered and which colleges will deliver them
is as follows:
- The Army identifies a need for a SOCAD curriculum at the
installation.
- The Army chooses an accredited college willing to offer the
degree program. (Note: Consult "Institutional Requirements
for Membership in the SOCAD System" in Section One of the
SOCAD-2 or SOCAD-4 Handbook for detailed requirements
of potential SOCAD institutions.)
- The Army requests that SOC invite the college to join SOCAD
and to submit its curriculum for review.
- If the college is not a SOC member, SOC sends a letter of
invitation and an application for SOC membership, notifying the
college that participation in SOCAD requires SOC membership.
- If the college is already a SOC member, SOC prepares the
curriculum exhibit in a standard SOC format and sends it to the
college for verification of its accuracy. The college's course
descriptions are then sent to other members of the curriculum
network for review.
- After all of the above steps are completed, SOC sends the
college an Institutional Agreement Form listing the requirements
for membership, the responsibilities of the college, and the
SOCAD degree networks in which the college has agreed to participate.
- Upon receipt of a signed Institutional Agreement Form, the
college is accepted as a SOCAD member.
