SOCCOAST Afloat

SOCCOAST Afloat consists of SOCCOAST institutions that have degree programs where the requirements can be fulfilled by stand alone CD-ROM Courses. This media is necessary aboard ships and cutters where there is limited Internet connectivity. Currently SOCCOAST Afloat is comprised of six institutions that have that capacity: Coastline Community College (associate level), Excelsior College (associate and bachelor's levels, Florida Community College at Jacksonville (associate level), Fort Hays State University (bachelor's and master's levels, Governors State University (bachelor's level) and the University of Oklahoma (bachelor's level with some lower division courses)). These institutions have a good reputation in providing courses afloat to other servicemembers. Other SOCCOAST institutions may join SOCCOAST Afloat as the concept is further developed and implemented. For specific courses being offered through CD-ROM by SOCCOAST Afloat institutions, you should check out the SOCCOAST Afloat Catalog located on the Coast Guard Institute Web site.
